Connect

Kids

Play, conversation, worship, and service.

Everything we do begins with belonging.

We strive to create spaces where children are physically and emotionally safe, where questions are welcome, and where each child knows they are valued and part of God’s great plan. Through play, conversation, worship, and service, children encounter God in ways that are meaningful and interactive.

Our ministry teaches essential truths of the Christian faith:

Celebrate and Express

Children at Second Baptist explore God’s word together and celebrate with their church family in Advent, Lent/Holy Week, baptism, and communion. Through shared practices, children begin a lifelong path of discipleship—rooted in worship and prayer, strengthened by study, and expressed through serving, giving, and sharing their faith.

Sundays

Worship

We encourage families to worship together—children are welcome in both services. Children’s worship bags and sensory items are available in the back of the sanctuary and chapel. Childcare is provided for infants through pre-K during both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.

Weekly Bible Study

Sundays | 10:00–10:45 a.m.
Children may be dropped off beginning at 9:45 a.m.

Our Bible study volunteers create meaningful experiences that help children grow in their understanding of God and relationships with one another through curiosity, creativity, and connection.

  • Grades K–5 meet in small groups of similar ages. Their curriculum encourages thoughtful questions, conversation, and reflection on how to share God’s love.
  • Younger children gather in multi-age groups according to developmental readiness. Their curriculum introduces foundational ideas about God, others, and the world in age-appropriate ways.

Children’s Choirs

Children’s choirs meet most Sundays from 9:30-10:00 a.m. (September through May) to explore creativity, their voices, and music leadership. The choirs sing in worship a few times a year.

Other Opportunities

Throughout the year, our Children’s Ministry hosts seasonal events:

  • Winter: Children’s Christmas Party / Parents’ Night Out, Masterpiece Arts Camp
  • Spring: Easter Egg Hunt
  • Summer: Vacation Bible School
  • Fall: Promotion Sunday & First Grade Bible Presentation, Trunk or Treat

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

VBS 2026: July 13–17

Vacation Bible School is one of our favorite weeks of the year—a time filled with songs, stories, crafts, and friendship. Look for registration to open in early spring 2026, with opportunities for children to attend and adults to volunteer.

Masterpiece Arts Camp

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
—Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

Masterpiece at Second Baptist invites children to explore a wide variety of art forms, such as music, movement, visual art, drama, cooking, and more. Every session includes a snack and a small materials fee (scholarships available).

Typical Schedule:
  • Masterpiece Jr. (Preschoolers, including age 3 if ready for group activities): 2-hour morning session
  • Masterpiece (Grades K–5): 3-hour afternoon session with a short gallery time for parents at pickup

Masterpiece Camp typically meets on one or two Saturdays in January or February. Information for 2026 will be available in late 2025.

Childcare

Childcare is available for infants through pre-K during all worship services, and often during special church events (by reservation). Infants through pre-K children are checked in at the preschool foyer desk. All volunteers in our Children’s Ministry provide a nurturing, safe environment and must pass a background check every two years.
