The Student Ministry at Second Baptist Church is a thriving community for middle and high schoolers. We gather each week to learn, grow, and have fun together—through Bible study, worship, games, and shared experiences that help students build friendships and deepen their faith.
Students meet each week in the Student Room on the sixth floor to study Scripture, share conversation, and explore what faith means in daily life.
Innermission is a time to unwind, connect, and grow in faith together. Through games, snack supper, worship, and small groups, students experience community in a setting that feels like home. Innermission is held each week in the Student Room on the sixth floor.
Each month, we host a Student Fun Night—a chance to connect outside of Sunday gatherings and invite friends to join in. From trampoline parks and escape rooms to pool parties and bonfires, these events are designed to build community and make everyone feel welcome.
Every fall, students head to Miracle Hills Ranch for a weekend away—filled with camp-wide games, s’mores, worship, and time to rest and reconnect with God. It’s a space for friendship, reflection, and spiritual growth in the beauty of nature.
Each winter or spring, we gather for Disciple Now, a weekend retreat hosted in Liberty. Students stay in host homes, hear from a guest speaker, participate in worship and small groups, and spend time serving in the Kansas City area. D-Now is a highlight of the year, helping students deepen their faith and relationships in meaningful ways.
Summer is a season of adventure and service for our students!
These trips are often the highlight of students’ time in youth group, filled with connection, discovery, and the joy of living out their faith together.
At Second Baptist, students’ safety is our highest priority, which is why every gathering includes at least two adult leaders and all volunteers and drivers undergo appropriate background checks.
