Kate Rettig Tysdahl serves as director of Second Friends Preschool, where she supports staff and programming to foster a warm, inclusive environment where children feel connected and valued.

Kate previously served as a third-grade teacher in the Liberty School District for 10 years. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and teaching from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in music from William Jewell College.

In 2020, Kate stepped away from the classroom to focus on raising her children, Evan and Claire. She and her husband, Chad, have been members of Second Baptist Church since 2018 and enjoy visits from their college-aged daughters, Izzy and Sophie.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys traveling, reading, playing percussion in a community orchestra, and working on projects in her 1880 home on the historic square.
