Senior Pastor

Jason G. Edwards serves as senior pastor of Second Baptist Church, where he has led the congregation since 2009 with a focus on meaningful community, thoughtful preaching, and faithful presence in a changing world. He is also the founding leader of Second Baptist’s Pastoral Residency program, launched in 2019 to equip and mentor emerging senior pastors for ministry.

Jason brings a background in pastoral leadership, spiritual formation, and cross-cultural ministry, having previously served among immigrants and refugees in France and Thailand, as well as in youth and campus ministry. He holds degrees from East Baptist University (B.A.), Baylor University’s Truett Seminary (M.Div.), and Fuller Theological Seminary (D.Min.).

His writing has appeared in The Christian Century, Plough, Good Faith Media, Baptist News Global, and The Kansas City Star, and he writes at jasongedwards.substack.com. His forthcoming book, At Home With God: How the Cross Transforms Us, will be published by InterVarsity Press in 2026.

Jason, his wife Christy, a pediatric hospital chaplain, and their three children, Jackson, Luke, and Norah, live in Liberty.
