Jana Atkinson is a pastoral resident at Second Baptist, where each day is an invitation to learn, to grow, and to walk alongside others in the sacred work of preaching, teaching, and caring for God’s people. Jana contributes to the 2BC’s mission of nurturing a Christ-centered community, one that is alive with meaning and committed to making a real difference in the world around us.

Jana’s journey has taken her from Southwest Texas Junior College, where she earned her associate degree, to Baptist University of the Américas for her bachelor’s, and then to Logsdon Seminary for her Master of Divinity.

Along the way, she has been shaped by the Christian Latina Leadership Institute, where she received a leadership certification, and five years serving as a student minister. Each step has deepened her sense of calling and prepared her for the path of pastoral ministry.

Outside of church life, Jana is likely to be found reading or cheering on the San Antonio Spurs. At home, she shares life with the light of her life, her cat Poe.
