Peace on Earth by Kristin Wooldridge

He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all may believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.

John 1:7-8

Often, beauty pageants include on-stage questions, including a classic of “What would you wish for if you could have anything in the world?” The answers have been parodied on comedy shows, and they seem to be a joke to some. But I have to say I agree with one of the most common replies that jokes seem to misconstrue. I agree that I would wish for peace on Earth as well.

Wouldn’t that be amazing? The right answer here is YES!

If there was a true sense of peace, there would be no more fear, hate, competition, hurting, and insults. We could all lean more into the living we are called to in Christ. We would be like John in verses 7 and 8 of John 1, “He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all may believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.”

Take a moment to reflect right now. Sit with your eyes closed and let your mind wander on peace. Think first of your daily life, then on your community, and then stretch that reflection to our nation and then to the world.

Without a wish on a stage being asked of you, what are you doing right now to lean into peace and light?

How are you creating peace in your little corner of the world?

How are you being a person who testifies in their own light and peace?

Can you testify to the light of peace Jesus brings you as you prepare for remembering Jesus’ birth?

Let peace begin with us.

Shalom.
