Music and the arts are central to how we worship and grow together.
They give voice to our faith, invite creativity, and help us encounter God in ways beyond words.
From the richness of our pipe organ and Sanctuary Choir to the joyful sound of children’s voices and the chords of acoustic guitars, music here reflects both tradition and new expression. We believe worship is shaped not only by what we hear, but by the gifts each person brings.
Our worship extends beyond our music. We follow the liturgical calendar (the church calendar), and you’ll notice our worship spaces thoughtfully decorated to reflect the liturgical seasons like Advent and Lent.
Through choirs, ensembles, decor, and our Celebrating the Arts Series, people of all ages are encouraged to share their talents as part of the “work of the people.” Whether you sing, play, have a talent for artistic decorating, or simply listen, you belong in this community where art becomes an act of worship.
Children’s Choirs
Children’s choirs meet most Sundays from September through May, teaching young singers musical skills and the joy of leading worship. The children share the songs they’ve been learning once or twice a year during worship.
Sanctuary Choir
Our Sanctuary Choir leads worship each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and for special services throughout the year, including our annual Celebrate the Season Community Christmas Concert. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:00–8:30 p.m. in the Music Suite (room 501). No audition is needed—just come to a rehearsal.
Instrumental Music
Adults and students (9th grade and older) participate in ensembles that lead in worship during seasons like Advent and summer, as well as in special events. Throughout the year, soloists and small groups also offer music in worship.
Handbell Choir
Handbell choirs have a long tradition at Second, enriching services with preludes, offertories, and accompaniments. The Sanctuary Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:00-6:50 in the Music Suite (room 501).
Celebrating the Arts Series
In honor of longtime organist Ann Posey, we host events throughout the year that highlight the arts and encourage people of all ages to share their unique talents.
Our annual Celebrate the Season: Community Christmas Concert is always a highlight of the series. Our community chorus and orchestra perform a variety of Christmas music, and the concert is a beautiful way to kick off the Christmas season.
