Care & Prayer

“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” —Galatians 6:2

We take seriously our call to care for one another.

Life brings seasons of joy and of struggle, and we believe both belong within the life of the church. When someone rejoices, we give thanks together; when someone suffers, we hold hope together. Through prayer, presence, and practical support, we seek to embody Christ’s love.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is one way Second Baptist lives out its call to care—we provide free, confidential, distinctly-Christian care through one-on-one relationships with trained volunteer caregivers.

Stephen Ministers are members of Second Baptist who have been trained to walk alongside people experiencing a difficult time. Each Stephen Minister meets weekly for one hour with his/her care receiver, providing a listening ear, prayer, and encouragement. Anyone in our congregation or community navigating challenges such as grief, divorce, illness, job loss, or other seasons of change can request a Stephen Minister. All Stephen Ministry relationships are strictly confidential, and care receivers are paired with same gender Stephen Ministers.

In addition, Second Baptist’s Stephen Leaders can also connect care receivers with professional or community resources if needed.

If you are interested in knowing more about Stephen Ministry – to request a care receiving relationship or to consider training as a Stephen Minister – please contact us at stephenministry@2bcliberty.org.

Prayer Requests

Prayer is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we care for each other. Scripture reminds us to pray in every circumstance—to lift our joys, our needs, and our gratitude before God together.

"The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry.”

—Psalm 34:15

At Second Baptist, we hold one another in prayer daily—trusting that God hears and responds with love. If you would like to add yourself or a loved one to our prayer list, please call 816.781.2824 or submit a request using the form below.
