Stephen Ministry is one way Second Baptist lives out its call to care—we provide free, confidential, distinctly-Christian care through one-on-one relationships with trained volunteer caregivers.
Stephen Ministers are members of Second Baptist who have been trained to walk alongside people experiencing a difficult time. Each Stephen Minister meets weekly for one hour with his/her care receiver, providing a listening ear, prayer, and encouragement. Anyone in our congregation or community navigating challenges such as grief, divorce, illness, job loss, or other seasons of change can request a Stephen Minister. All Stephen Ministry relationships are strictly confidential, and care receivers are paired with same gender Stephen Ministers.
In addition, Second Baptist’s Stephen Leaders can also connect care receivers with professional or community resources if needed.
