Serve at 2BC

Looking for a place to serve at 2BC?

Consider how God has uniquely wired you.
Consider your personality, skills, abilities and life experiences. How could these help you make a difference in the lives of others?

Ask yourself, "What am I passionate about?"
What issue or people group really catches your interest? What problem or issue would you like to solve?

As you start to discover the answers to these questions, here are a couple of ways for you to explore serving.

  • Learn more about how God has uniquely wired you to serve. Take the AssessMe gifts assessment, and then meet with an advisor to review and to get plugged in at 2BC using these gifts.
  • Explore opportunities below to serve at 2BC using your gifts.
  • Not sure where you should serve?  Email us and we'd love to help!

Below are several current opportunities to serve. You can also contact the team member listed to find out more about opportunities in each of these vital ministries.

Worship Childcare is the time when loving childcare providers care for our youngest 2BC members during the 11:00 a.m. service. Ideally, this is a service that youth and adults can sign up for two or three times a year. If every parent of a preschooler will take his/her turn, we can make that possible!

Sign up via the SignUp Genius website or Contact Gwen Phillips at [email protected] or 781.2824. This opportunity requires a background check. Click the link at right if you need to fill one out.

  • Serve as a Youth Mentor at Schumacher Elementary: Adults spend one hour per week with a child to inspire them to succeed and challenge them to do their best. These volunteers not only help the children, but they also help the teachers and schools reach their goals in serving the educational needs of their students. Mentors can choose from a number of in-school activities to enrich a child’s life. You might have lunch with a student, tutor, share special talents or interests, read, or simply be a good friend who listens. This can be done one-on-one or in a small group of children. If you’d like to serve, request an application from Debbie Lane at [email protected] or from the program’s coordinator, Colleen Jones, at [email protected]. Applicants attend an interview and a short training session, and a background check will be conducted.

If you have questions, contact Team Leader Debbie Lane at [email protected].

This is a key role that helps fulfill our church's mission to provide radical hospitality!

There are 3 different shifts each Sunday morning:

  • Set Up | Get here around 8:15 to make the coffee, iced tea, set out the condiments and get everything ready for our guests.
  • Coffee Host | Be behind the coffee bar from 9:15 to 10 or so welcoming people, making extra coffee, making individual cups of hot tea and cleaning up any spills.
  • Clean Up | Put the condiments away, empty the coffee pots and rinse them out, and run the cups through the dishwasher.

You’ll get an email with the week’s needs and you get to decide if you are available and want to help. If we have several people helping, then one person won’t have to do all three things every Sunday.

To sign up, contact Larry Jones at [email protected] or sign in to The HUB, search for the group "Coffee Bar Host" and click "Join Group."

Each Sunday, we like to provide a light breakfast and "snack supper" for the students at church, and we'd like to invite anyone in our church family to help! We have two spots to fill for each meal each week, so everyone will have a partner to team up with for each meal.

As we are preparing meals, we do need to be conscious of food allergies. We avoid using nuts of any kind in our food preparation and we try to provide some alternative options (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.) when possible.

To sign up to provide Sunday breakfast or Sunday night snack supper, sign up on VolunteerSpot or contact Charles Smith at [email protected] or 781-2824.
